How we do it

Unlocking the genetic potential of plants.

Phytoform is committed to improving agricultural sustainability through an innovative, technology-driven approach to trait development and implementation. Modern agriculture is facing increasing challenges due to climate and population changes. We need to significantly reduce emissions and at the same time produce more food to sustain a growing population.

Current methods to improve crops are severely limited by time, plant diversity, and cost. At Phytoform we’ve developed a solution that produces new plant traits in months rather than years, and it is a fraction of the cost of conventional breeding and GMO technologies. We focus on delivering high quality traits that unlock the genetic diversity of nature and ensure a sustainable future for everyone.

CRE.AI.TIVE   TM Platform

Phytoform utilises a proprietary machine learning technology called CRE.AI.TIVE   to target small changes in DNA sequences that will create maximum impact on crops. Imagine plant varieties that are more resilient and less prone to crop losses.

Through a combination of AI and genomic data, we use high throughput methods to filter through millions of sequences in the lab, giving us unprecedented control over gene expression. We can then use the results to iterate and improve our model over time.

Genome Editing Implementation

Once we’ve discovered effective traits, we implement them with footprint free genome editing powered by microfluidics and tissue culture expertise.

We’re able to increase speed to market and achieve scalability by efficiently implementing the trait across a wide variety of species without any transgenes. The result is commercially relevant traits at a fraction of the time and cost.

Our Pipeline

Improving production and reducing emissions.

Pairing AI-driven trait discovery with genome editing implementation, we’re currently working on multiple traits across several plant varieties.

We are creating traits to reduce the environmental footprint of potato and tomato by minimising supply chain waste. Beyond that we are working on traits for alternative plant proteins and emerging ag-industries such as vertical farming. These are just a few of the projects in our pipeline that are commercially viable while minimising damage to the environment.
